Family just wouldn’t be family without the loving team at The Independence House. Our team works together to ensure each resident feels cared for and safe in their environment and we provide continual training to our professionals in the care of those with memory loss. Our patient, compassionate, loving staff is committed to the overall well-being of every resident in our care.

The Medical Director at the Independence House is a local physician with expertise in the unique needs of those with memory loss. Our doctor is available 24 hours a day and makes in-house visits/house calls which allows residents to remain in familiar surroundings while receiving quality health care. The Medical Director takes the time to develop relationships with our residents and assists family members, friends and other team members with specific information regarding a resident’s health care. In addition, our physician is an educational resource for our support groups providing important information on the health care issues of those with memory loss. Photos

Our Nurse Consultant conducts monthly audits of all resident records and develops monthly performance reviews to ensure compliance with state regulations and licensure surveys. This team member also trains and educates staff to ensure consistency of care, makes recommendations for areas needing improvement and works directly with other team members to find innovative, proven methods for solving problems. Our Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse (RN) available 24 hours a day and is independent of our facility in order to ensure an objective view of resident assessments and documentation.

Our Facilities Director provides overall supervision and direction to facility administrators and staff. This team member performs regular quality assurance checks of maintenance, staff training and consistency of care to ensure each of our communities meets the highest standards. Our Facilities Director also updates all policies and verifies each community conforms to standard requirements.

Administrators oversee the daily facility management. They are state licensed supervise staff, monitor residents, lead support groups and work with families to ensure residents’ needs are met. Administrators are also available 24 hours a day and ready to assist you with questions regarding your loved one’s care.

Our Nurse Coordinators are responsible for ongoing resident assessments and meets with the resident’s personal physician and family members to address any changes to the overall medical plan. They also oversee all medication administration and documentation. Nurse Coordinators are Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) or Registered Nurses (RN) who also provide instruction and training for staff members who have direct care with residents. Nurse Coordinators are available 24 hours a day.

The Activity Director at the Independence House coordinates all activities designed to engage residents in physical movement, stimulation and social interaction. The Director also promotes interactions among the residents and plans activities designed to maintain a fulfilling lifestyle. The Activities Director plans and coordinates all outings and community potluck dinners.

Medication Aides and Certified Nursing Assistants work directly with our residents under the supervision of licensed staff. These team members support the Activity Director, Nurse Coordinator and Administrators in all daily living activities and ongoing care of our residents. These team members are trained to work specifically with Alzheimer’s residents.

We care about our residents and it shows in everything we do. From preparing meals to monitoring health conditions, each resident is treated with respect in a dignified and polite manner.
